As we pointed out in the last eNewsletter, this coming June will be a busy time as our annual CHESS User’s Meeting June 7th 2016 kicks off a series of six science workshops. Our goal is to discuss with the user community the scientific needs potentially met by state-of-the-art high-energy, high-flux x-ray beamline capabilities. The science topics cover the gamut from fundamental materials science through biological and engineering materials, with techniques ranging from diffraction and scattering to scanning spectroscopies to wide-dynamic-range diffuse scattering.

Just this past week CHESS had a meeting of its External Advisory Committee. They reviewed our plans for summer workshops and gave us valuable advice on titles, topics and implored us to invite speakers who are national and international leaders in science fields. You’ll be hearing more in the coming months, but below we show the latest version of workshop titles and organizing committees. Please feel free to contact myself, the staff and/or organizers if you have ideas or wish to participate. Over the next few weeks the CHESS Users’ Executive Committee will also be asked to weigh in on making these workshops interesting and successful.

Pending refinements and confirmations, these are the current titles and organizing groups. Note that the first two immediately follow the CHESS annual Users’ Meeting on June 7th.
